40 years, 10 million pipes, $40 million to the economy
Tyco Water Yennora, Australia’s only ductile iron pipe manufacturer, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and the launch of a significant development in its product portfolio, the TYTON 2100 Series*.
Celebrated by Kim Yeadon NSW Energy Minister and Minister for Western Sydney, local dignitaries, VIPs, customers and two hundred Tyco Water employees, the anniversary marks a number of significant community, environment and economic achievements of Tyco Water.
“The Tyco plant has provided jobs to more than 7,000 people since it opened its doors in 1962”, said Mr Yeadon.
“The important point for the community is that 90 per cent of these people are from the local area.
“Tyco contributes over $40 million to the state and national economy through employment, acquiring raw materials, power, gas, water and other services.
“This manufacturing facility has also recycled 2.5 million tonnes of scrap and waste steel that would otherwise have gone to landfill – enough to fill 2,000 football fields. The recycled waste has been used to produce 55,000 kilometres of iron pipe, which has been laid in more than 10 countries around the world.
“Tyco Water is using innovation to stay globally competitive and this is good for the economy of Western Sydney”, said Mr Yeadon.
